The C-NPT is refreshingly accessible compared with many certifications: it’s multidisciplinary,
and there’s no minimum hours hurdle for the subspecialty. Here’s what NCC requires.
Who can take the C-NPT?
Licensed healthcare professionals in the U.S. and Canada who stabilize and transport critically
ill neonatal and pediatric patients — registered nurses, respiratory therapists, nurse
practitioners, paramedics, and physicians among them. It’s designed for the whole transport team,
not one profession.
Do you need a minimum number of practice hours?
No. As an NCC subspecialty certification, the C-NPT has no practice-experience minimum
— you can test whenever you’re ready. You do need an active professional license and genuine
clinical experience in neonatal and pediatric transport to be successful.
Is the C-NPT recognized?
Yes — it meets CAMTS (Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems)
requirements and is Magnet-recognized, which is why many transport programs encourage or require it.
How do you apply?
There are no application deadlines; you can apply any time, and NCC typically processes
applications within 1 to 14 days.
